From the second half of the 19 th century, Western colonial countries directed attention to the Southeastern region to attribute and make it a colony — the source of materials and markets that consumed the goods. In that situation, in order to protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, some Southeast Asian countries like Burma, Siam, Vietnam conducted the national reforms to deal with the risk of expansion of the invasion from Western colonial countries, escape from colonial relatives and integrate into the world. Although the results achieved were uneven between countries, the reforms of the aforementioned countries contributed to a new trend in the national salvation movement in Southeast Asia — a tendency to reform and modernize the nation, self-strengthening nationalism to against the threat of national
